All participants receive a free Sonsbeek collection booklet. Step into the history of Sonsbeek! Together we celebrate Sonsbeek’s 75th anniversary by creating a collection of miniatures of artworks that have been shown in the twelve editions of Sonsbeek or are still on view in Arnhem today. With your help, we’ll retell the stories of the Sonsbeek collection.
Programme:
12:45 - 13:00 Opening by Orlando Maaike Gouwenberg, director of Sonsbeek
13:00 - 14:30 First workshop
14:45 - 16:15 Second workshop
This workshop at POST focuses on the 1971 and 1993 editions. Both were landmark moments in Sonsbeek’s history: Sonsbeek ’71 broke new ground by moving art beyond the park into the city and even outside Arnhem, while Sonsbeek ’93 centred on identity, public space and process, expanding into the city and its neighbourhoods. Together, they transformed Sonsbeek and the wider art world by reimagining what art in public space could be. The Sonsbeek team will be happy to share more about this rich history, while everyone is invited to recreate an artwork from one of these editions using various materials, under the guidance of artists Liam Siepel and Ajna Lorincz. Each miniature will find its place in the Sonsbeek collection. By takingpart, you’ll become part of Sonsbeek’s rich future history. The miniature collection will continue to grow and will be shown at different moments over time.
