On Thursday 5 September, POST is organising a new edition of ECHO, with a lecture that delves deeper into the themes of the exhibition Ever Ending. At the center of this exhibition is the idea of the apocalypse. Each in their own way, the artists depict the end of worlds that are often forgotten.
An important source of inspiration for this exhibition is the book Apocalypsofie by philosopher and writer Lisa Doeland. In this book, Doeland takes the reader through various capitalist strategies for saving the world, such as green growth, recycling and circular economy to show that these contribute just as much to the end of the world. By arguing that the apocalypse is not a distant future but something that is already unfolding right now, she shows the urgency for actual systemic change.
During this evening of ECHO, Lisa Doeland will elaborate on her book in a 45-minute lecture, after which curator of the exhibition Lieke Wouters will talk to Lisa about the apocalypse, systemic change and hopeful endings.
