On Thursday the 6th of June Platform POST organizes another edition of our ECHO program. During this evening, three people from different fields will shine a light on the exhibition Symbiosis Series, in which Isabel Cavenecia and Shani Leseman open portals to parallel worlds with different realities through the use of intuition, the body and the spiritual.
The speakers of this program will each share their thoughts and/or practices on the role and importance of intuition within different contexts, providing a mosaic of perspectives. Artistic Researcher and body awareness specialist Ulrike Scholtes will share a writing exercise in which you will tap into different ways of working intuitively, visual artist Olivia D'Cruz will show a film about dowsing and water witchcraft and Ingrid Kloosterman will show you various scientific experiments on intuition throughout the history of parapsychology.
Ulrike Scholtes (DE, 1986)
Ulrike Scholtes (PhD, she/her) works at the intersection of art, body work and (social) science. She is specialized in body awareness, bodily knowledge, embodied methods and artistic research. Building on her background in art, anthropology and body work, she teaches body awareness as a research skill. As a teacher/researcher Ulrike works for research center What Art Knows, iArts and the Master in Theatre (Zuyd), the University of Amsterdam and MERIAN.
Olivia D’Cruz (IN, 1996)
Olivia D'Cruz is an artist from Goa, India, currently living in Amsterdam. They use drawing, animation, sculpture and film making as tools to record uncanny encounters between landscapes, humans and other animals. They are interested in the structures that make these encounters possible or impossible, and questions them from a decolonial perspective. Their work relies on collaboration and intergenerational relationships. They are currently participating in the Planetary Poetics Masters Program at the Sandberg Institute and are working on a project about the mangrove as place of digestion and resistance.
Ingrid Kloosterman (NL, 1983)
Ingrid Kloosterman holds a PhD in the history and philosophy of the social sciences and wrote a book about the history of parapsychology in the Netherlands. Parapsychologists have scientifically investigated paranormal phenomena - such as telepathy and communication with the deceased - ever since the end of the 19th century. Kloosterman is specifically intrigued by the ever-changing perspectives on the construction of scientific truths and speaks regularly about various parapsychological experiments conducted throughout history.
